The stars of Desperate Scousewives hit headlines last week
when the ‘scouse look’ was sensationally banned from the Liverpool Fashion Week
catwalk! So when the Room31.co.uk fashion team received an invitation to attend
the launch of the new Scouse Boutique we couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss
was about.
Room31.co.uk are proud to be sponsoring Liverpool Fashion Live which is bringing LIVE fashion LIVE music and LIVE dancing to Liverpool on 18th October which happens to be the same week as Liverpool Fashion Week. LFL is allowing the people of Liverpool to decide who is a style/fashion icon.
It was all about big eyelashes, big hair and even bigger fashion
as Liverpool’s Palm Sugar Lounge opened its doors to supporters of Amanda
Harrington, Debbie O’Toole and Gill O’Toole’s new business venture last
Thursday.
Love them or hate them you can’t deny the Scousewives girls
know how to put on a party! Scouse Boutique is described by its owners as a
‘one stop shop packed full of new and exclusive fashion ranges to suit all ages
and budgets.’ Clearly it isn’t to
everyone’s taste however the ‘scouse look’ is part of the Liverpudlian culture
according to the Desperate Scousewives stars.
The event was attended by a host of celebs including ex-TOWIE
star Maria Fowler and XFactor finalists Marcus Collins, James Michael and
2Shoes .
Maria brought a touch of Essex to the North in a backless,
diamante encrusted dress in a summery aqua blue. The reality TV star apparently had a run in
with Marcus Collins on the night- but we were too busy enjoying the cocktails,
tiny dogs and funny scouse slogan t-shirts to notice.
Our amazing friends over at Love Umbrellas were also
featured on the catwalk as they have designed a unique collection for the
boutique.
Jodie Lundstram and sister Keely, who both opted for a cool
rock chick look, were also there to support their fellow DS stars. Jodie also
told us that she’s currently launching a new make up line.....we love gossip!
All in all we had a fab time partying with the scousers and
their sense of style is definitely like no other.
According to the Daily Mail; “Organiser of Liverpool Fashion
Week Amanda Moss slammed the made-up appearance, branding it intimidating and
downmarket and not appropriate for a high-fashion setting, the 40-year old
mother of five stated that models emulating the ‘Scouse’ look will not be
allowed on the runway this Autumn, she told MailOnline: I’m banning Scouse
brows, fake tan and lashes. Moss who has previously recruited the likes of
Kerry Katona and Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe for her event, added:
‘It’s my show I can do whatever I like. I do a lot for the community and
Liverpool, I’ve built up this event with support over four years and I’m not
going to see it ruined. Desperate Scousewives hasn’t done Liverpool Fashion
Week any favours and it’s made it difficult to be taken seriously”
The debate continues........ Let us know what you think.
